چکیده
Cytological samples are often the only diagnostic material available for confirmation of lung cancer (LC) diagnosis. The aim present study was to evaluate cytology-histology concordance diagnosis, histological subtyping and molecular profiling LC, determine factors which may affect sample adequacy or concordance. 118 patients with histologically cytologically confirmed LC were retrospectively studied. Clinicopathological features correlated type biological obtained (histological cytological) sampling methods used. Concordance between cytological diagnosis also above parameters. majority male (58.5%), positive smoking history (82.2%), non-small cell subtype tumor (72%) και advanced disease stage (66.9%). Histological adequate evaluation in 94/100 (94%) 85/88 cases (96.6%), respectively malignancy 87/100 (87%) 57/88 (64.8%), respectively. Cytology-histology regard 52.9%. In subgroup, high (96.9%) observed tumor. Molecular testing performed 30/118 (25.4%), most commonly using (23/30, 76.7%); 28/30 these (93.3%) evaluation. a small (p=0.047) univariate but not multivariate analysis. among high, despite relatively low overall No independent correlation any clinicopathological parameters evaluated presence inadequate discordance.

Optimizing Tissue Sampling for the Diagnosis, Subtyping, and Molecular Analysis of Lung Cancer
Lung cancer has entered the era of personalized therapy with histologic subclassification and the presence of molecular biomarkers becoming increasingly important in therapeutic algorithms. At the same time, biopsy specimens are becoming increasingly smaller as diagnostic algorithms seek to establish diagnosis and stage with the least invasive techniques. Here, we review techniques used in the ...
متن کاملFrom cytology to histology: diagnosis of a relapsed mediastinal lymphoma by endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial histological needle
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is highly accurate in diagnosing mediastinal lymphadenopathies of lung cancer and benign disorders, with the advantage that it is a minimally invasive technique, unlike open surgery and mediastinoscopy. However, the diagnostic accuracy of EBUS-TBNA for the diagnosis of lymphoma in patients with mediastinal lymphadenopa...
متن کاملDiagnosis of Lung Cancer in Small Biopsies and Cytology
The new International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer/American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society lung adenocarcinoma classification provides, for the first time, standardized terminology for lung cancer diagnosis in small biopsies and cytology; this was not primarily addressed by previous World Health Organization classifications. Until recently there have been no therapeut...
متن کاملEffectiveness of histology and cytology on musculoskeletal tumor diagnosis
OBJECTIVE To compare cytology and histology on the diagnosis of musculoskeletal neoplasms. METHOD Fifty eight cases available to evaluation were analyzed both by cytology and histology. The results of the biopsies studied by histology and cytology were compared to the results obtained on the surgical specimen or immunohistochemistry. We determined the percentage of correct results, sensitivit...
